The Autism program and Language Arts department at VH invite the community to partner with our 6th graders and read the book "Anything But Typical" by Nora Raleigh Baskin during the month of April. Please use this blog's comment section to capture thoughts and conversation you are able to have with your students and the community throughout this project. There are also links below that may be used to further your understanding and involvement in the Autism community.
Names can hurt. In chapter 12, Jason talks about how names are just a combination or letters, but sometimes they can hurt and other times they don't mean anything. Do you agree with Jason? Why or why not? Have you every been hurt by a name or label?
