The Autism program and Language Arts department at VH invite the community to partner with our 6th graders and read the book "Anything But Typical" by Nora Raleigh Baskin during the month of April. Please use this blog's comment section to capture thoughts and conversation you are able to have with your students and the community throughout this project. I know that at the beginning of the book Jason is not a typical boy because he states that he will try talk to us in "our" language and also when he says, "But more than talking in their own language, people like to hear things in a way they are most comfortable." This statement makes me think of how Jason might like to hear and do things his own way.
ReplyDeleteYou know that Jason is not a typical 12 year old because he refers others as "neuro-typicals". He even then shortens it to NT's. It is like he describing two different species of people.
